Screen printing is just like silk screen printing but, rather than ink, powdered glass is pushed through the screen. A "mask" or resist is applied to the screen. Each color utilizes a different screen. Powdered glass, or "frit", is passed through the screen onto the sheet glass surface. Multiple firings in a kiln are required in order to fix the powder to the glass. A wide variety of effects can be created.
